About the work
Layer upon layer, rosé, peach, lemon yellow and coral orange settle over one another in "03 | 2026" until the surface shimmers like a meadow against the light. On top, Juliane Golbs sets delicate blossom forms in mallow and plum, single green blades and leaves, and draws fine lines through the paint with pencils – star shapes, loops, small repetitions that recall a child's drawing and yet are placed with complete intent. This graphic layer is the hallmark of the series Fifth Season #heaven can wait, in which the artist's daughter also leaves her traces. The picture has no vanishing point; it is entered from all sides at once. One may think of the water-lily paintings of modernism, in which the surface becomes a field of light, but here the tone is warmer and more personal. Acrylic and pencil on canvas produce an open, living skin. In the 150 × 200 cm format, the work lends a room a bright, spring-like mood, especially lovely in rooms with morning light.
