About the work
A vertically drawn ground of magenta, raspberry red and pale rosé defines the surface of "515 | 2024". The paint runs down in fine trails, so that the canvas feels like a curtain of light. Over it, Juliane Golbs distributes branches with countless small blossoms in white, dusty rose and moss green, among which golden monograms sparkle here and there. The composition follows no centre; it spreads like a flowering shrub over the full height and leaves the eye room to wander. Acrylic and gold lacquer on canvas produce two surfaces: the matt, deep colour of the ground and the glossy accents that light up in raking light. In the Fifth Season series, born of the experience of time together that felt like a gift, this picture stands for the exuberant side of happiness – for an abundance that need not be held fast to be present. In the 150 × 200 cm format, the work unfolds a room-filling warmth and asks for a calm, bright wall, perhaps in a salon or dining room.

Some pictures begin with an idea. These two series began with life itself – with fear, with time given back and with the decision to celebrate it.
