About the work
In “04 | 2026” a broad wave of blossoms moves across the surface from upper left to lower right. Juliane Golbs builds it from hundreds of small marks in lavender, dove blue and lilac, interspersed with luminous accents of coral and salmon and with strokes of fir green that read as stems and leaves. Above and below, the canvas remains largely free in a light, slightly greyish tone. From the lower edge of the wave long vertical runs fall downwards, giving the abundant form a quiet, almost musical counter-movement. Acrylic, coloured pencil and gold lacquer combine into a surface in which painting and drawing cannot be separated, a hallmark of the series Fifth Season #heaven can wait. The drawn traces point to creation in the moment, to lived time that cannot be planned. In the 200 × 200 cm square the abstract floral painting has the effect of a wall of light and suits generous, bright rooms.

Some pictures begin with an idea. These two series began with life itself – with fear, with time given back and with the decision to celebrate it.
