About the work
A portrait-format canvas that asks to be read from top to bottom. In the upper right corner of "09 | 2026", turquoise and green blossoms gather into a trailing vine that descends diagonally across the picture. Beneath it opens a field of colour that moves from saturated magenta through rosé into an almost white light. Long drips run vertically through this surface and set the rhythm of the painting. Juliane Golbs works here in acrylic and coloured pencil: over the translucent glazes lie fine, nervous lines that merely suggest stems, leaf edges and outlines. The work is thus exemplary of the series Fifth Season #heaven can wait, in which drawing gains weight and the trace of the hand is allowed to remain visible. The blossom is not fixed in place; it is on the point of dissolving. At 150 × 200 cm, this original painting has the presence of a wall. In a room it reads like a fall of light: warm, vertical, with a calm, bright zone where the eye can rest.
