About the work
A small format with great colour: "08 | 2026" sets creamy white blossoms and dark green leaves against a ground of luminous coral red that fades towards the bottom into a pale salmon pink. The blossoms are applied thickly and sculpturally, often modelled with a single brushstroke, with traces of red and ochre at the edges. Over and between the paint lie sweeping lines in chalk that circle the flower heads or run freely across the surface; at the upper left they condense into a strong, dark drawing. Green paint trickles down in fine trails. Juliane Golbs combines acrylic and chalk here into a surface on which painting and drawing stand as equals, as is typical of the series Fifth Season #heaven can wait. In the 30 × 40 cm format, this spontaneity feels particularly immediate. The picture comes into its own on a sideboard, in a hang with other small works, or as a warm accent in a kitchen or hallway.
