About the work
Seen from a distance, "507 | 2024" appears as a shimmering spring meadow: hundreds of small blossoms in white, dusty rose and plum stand on slender stems before a ground that darkens from pale olive gold on the left to deep moss green on the right. Step closer and the picture changes. Hidden among the flowers, stencilled and painted, are the JG monogram, small anchors, crowns and hares. Juliane Golbs weaves her personal repertoire of signs into nature so casually that it only emerges at second glance. The brushwork is short and dabbed, almost pointillist in rhythm, animating the surface evenly while still creating a movement from left to right. Within the Fifth Season series, the work stands for lived time as abundance: no centre dominates, every passage matters equally. The large square format of 200 × 200 cm unfolds a landscape-like breadth in a room. Depending on the light, its effect shifts between sunlit gold and shaded green.

Some pictures begin with an idea. These two series began with life itself – with fear, with time given back and with the decision to celebrate it.
