About the work
A curtain of foliage falls into the picture from above: broad green brushstrokes, with white blossoms, violet sweet peas and small dabs of magenta between them. Beneath the vegetation a warm, cardboard-brown ground flashes through in places and gives the green depth. Vertical runs of paint pass through the lower half and dissolve the forms into rivulets. Juliane Golbs paints “05 | 2025” in acrylic on canvas and works in layers: the picture looks as if nature had grown over itself several times. In Fifth Season #heaven can wait the painting becomes denser, and lines and traces come further forward; here this shows in the alternation of opaque blossoms and fleeting strokes. One may think of Baroque flower pieces, in which abundance always speaks of its own transience, yet the handling remains gestural and open. At 100 × 140 cm the upright format sits well in rooms with plants and daylight, where the green of the picture continues.

Some pictures begin with an idea. These two series began with life itself – with fear, with time given back and with the decision to celebrate it.
