About the work
The round format, associated since the Renaissance tondo with concentration and perfection, gives "510 | 2024" its particular calm. On an even ground of warm gold lacquer, a lavish bouquet of lilac, pale blue, lemon yellow and white gathers just left of centre. The blossoms are applied thickly, often with a palette knife, so that they stand in relief above the gleaming surface. Around them Juliane Golbs scatters bright pink accents: small crowns, hares and JG monograms that leap from the bouquet like sparks. A fine dark stroke at the lower edge suggests a stem and anchors the composition. The combination of acrylic, acrylic lacquers and gold lacquer creates a lively interplay of matt and reflective passages that changes with the daylight. As part of the Fifth Season series, the work holds the idea of the gifted moment in a closed form. With a diameter of 80 cm, it hangs like a jewel on the wall, especially above a console or in an alcove.

Some pictures begin with an idea. These two series began with life itself – with fear, with time given back and with the decision to celebrate it.
