About the work
In "01 | 2023", three black canvases join to form a frieze three metres wide. Across the night of the ground run turquoise and petrol brush sweeps that recall calligraphy, a writing without letters. Between them, Juliane Golbs scatters small blossoms in rosé and white, and a grid of white squares settles over the gesture like a digital echo. This tension between flowing handwriting and geometric pixel runs through the Signature Collection, in which signs, monogram and pattern merge into a personal visual language. The division into three refers to the triptych, the classical form of the altarpiece, but here it is read horizontally, almost like a score one walks along from left to right. The technique, acrylic on black canvas, lets the colours stand out with particular clarity; small drips link the panels. A work of this width calls for a long, calm wall – in a meeting room, a lobby or above a large sofa – where it acts as a horizon.
