About the work
Across two metres by two, a meadow unfolds that one enters rather than observes. Grasses, tendrils and flower heads grow upwards in vertical bands, interspersed with daisies with ochre hearts and sweet peas in dusky pink and lilac. At the centre a bright clearing opens: here the gold lacquer comes forward, softly shimmering behind the green, like sunlight falling through tall grass. “04 | 2025” belongs to Fifth Season #heaven can wait, the continuation of the series in which Juliane Golbs translates lived time into colour. The technique of acrylic, acrylic lacquers and gold lacquer allows an exchange between opaque, glazed and glossy passages; single runs of paint pass through the vegetation as fine rivulets. The composition knows no main motif and no hierarchy, comparable to the all-over of American post-war painting, only turned towards the floral. In a room the large square format works like an open window onto a summer garden and needs a calm, wide wall.

Some pictures begin with an idea. These two series began with life itself – with fear, with time given back and with the decision to celebrate it.
