About the work
In “07 | 2025” vegetation of long green ribbons and yellow blossoms hangs down into the picture from above, as if one were standing beneath a pergola in late summer. Juliane Golbs paints the forms with quick, calligraphic strokes in emerald and olive green, with pale flower heads in lemon yellow and cream between them and the occasional small star in lilac. The ground of gold lacquer and warm copper places the whole picture in a muted evening light. At the bottom the composition dissolves into drips that keep the process of painting visible. Small black monograms appear among the tendrils, unobtrusive as handwriting in a margin. Painted in acrylic and gold lacquer on canvas, the work belongs to the series Fifth Season #heaven can wait, in which drawing comes further to the fore than in the first series. Here it shows in the trailing lines, which seem written rather than painted. The 100 × 140 cm format gives the picture the presence of a window onto a garden.
