About the work
On a pale, almost white ground, a dense garden grows across the entire surface of "08 | 2025". Long, curving leaves in sage and fern green run from top to bottom like tendrils, and between them blossoms open in mallow, plum, white and rosé. Ochre-yellow and saffron patches set sunny centres, and neon-orange lines reach into the picture from the edges. Juliane Golbs works here in acrylic and pencil: beside the painted layers stand drawn contours, small scribbles and arcs that comment on the painting. This is exactly what defines the series Fifth Season #heaven can wait – the continuation of Fifth Season is more graphic and more open to traces, including those left by the artist's daughter. The comparison with the Baroque flower still life is close at hand, yet instead of an ordered bouquet an all-over composition emerges that knows no centre. In the 150 × 200 cm format, this abstract floral painting reads like a window onto a summer garden and brings breadth to rooms with little view.
