About the work
On an unprimed, warmly shimmering gold tone, a group of slender figures gathers, suggested rather than spelled out. In "10 | 2025", Juliane Golbs sets the silhouettes down with quick, broad brushstrokes: sage green, dove blue and broken white form garments, while a few orange-red dabs mark flowers or jewellery. Faces remain open; the scene lives from posture and movement. One thinks of the garden parties of Impressionism, yet the handling is more economical, almost sketch-like, and leaves much of the pictorial work to the ground. Within the Golden Things series, the gold here is not ornament but atmosphere: it feels like the late light of a summer evening, in which contours soften. The technique, acrylic on canvas, stays visible in impasto edges and dry, scratchy traces. At 40 × 60 cm, this small original painting is an intimate format meant to be seen up close – in a hallway, a library or beside a desk, where one encounters it again and again in passing.
