About the work

The black ground gives "29 | 2022" a nocturnal depth against which every colour gains in luminosity. A diagonal movement from upper left to lower right organises the picture: small mint-green squares fall across the surface like pixels or mosaic tesserae, accompanied by peach-coloured blossom forms, white billows of cloud and sweeping arcs in rosé, lime green and bronze. At the upper edge, white and cream paint runs down in thin threads, in places also gold lacquer that glows matt out of the black. In acrylic and gold lacquer, Juliane Golbs combines geometric placements with gestural strokes, creating a dialogue between digital order and painterly gesture. In the Signature Collection, whose works formulate a personal coat of arms for the twenty-first century, this is the most modern picture: graphic, high in contrast, almost musical. At 80 × 100 cm, it suits studies, lofts or hallways with clear architecture, where the dark ground acts as a calm anchor.
